TRAVEL * ADVENTURE * GOATS

May 28, 2004 | Return to the Radio
Karl & Margaret on KMUW
Karl & Margaret sit with Wichita public radio morning edition host Frank Dudgeon and KMUW General Manager Mark McCain during the station's annual pledge drive. From 6-7 a.m. on April 29, 2004, we talked about goats, gave away Year of the Goat t-shirts, and raised about $1200 for the station. Go goats!
Dear Friends,

Long lost greetings from the world of goats! We want to apologize for being away and out of touch for so long. The spring has been very busy, full of travel, goat visits and wedding plans. We will begin to update the site again starting next week, so expect a lot of great goat stories in the coming days. Until then we want to let you know about what's happening, where we've been lately, and where we will be in the upcoming weeks and month as we enter into the home stretch of our Year of the Goat.

IMPORTANT RADIO NEWS
We don't want to bury this too deep in the email. This weekend (May 29 & 30) we will be making our third appearance on Public Radio's nationally syndicated show, The Next Big Thing. We will be talking to host Dean Olsher about our recent adventures in Wyoming: goatpacking with Wind River Pack Goats (a new corporate sponsor!) in the Red Desert, and our visit with weed scientist Lani Malmberg and her traveling herd of 1250 goats in Cheyenne. For station listings and showtimes visit: The Next Big Thing Station Listings

In other radio news, in April we made a pledge drive appearance and plea on Wichita's public radio station KMUW. From 6am to 7am in the morning we talked about goats, gave away Year of the Goat t-shirts, and raised about $1200 for the station.

WHERE WE'VE BEEN
Since you last heard from us we have completed two big trips. On the first to the Northern Central states of Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, we visited 7 farms and one restaurant in an action packed 6 days. In Sioux City, Iowa, we visited a petting zoo that not only has goats, but a lion, a tiger, and two bears. Oh my. We also landed on the front page of the Sioux City Journal. Right next to Bush and Tony Blair. Oh my.

We just got back from four weeks on the road traveling in Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota. In addition to the goat packing and weed eating goats that we will be talking about on the radio this weekend, we also ate goat at an upscale San Francisco restaurant, earned our milking credentials in Rice, Washington, and serendipitously met some wild mountain goats at Mount Rushmore.

WHAT'S TO COME
In about a week we will head east for the final three months of our Year of the Goat. We will be in and around New York City from June 10-20, and then we will head to New England to put the final wedding plans into motion. In July we will travel to Harrisburg, PA, for the ADGA National Show, and then return to Maine for our wedding, August 8, 2004. To find out what happens after the wedding, you'll just have to stay tuned.

Well, that's the update. There are a lot of great goat stories still to come, so hang in there, and we look forward to seeing you or hearing from you soon.

All the best,

Karl, Margaret & Godfrey
