August 23, 2007 | Goatstravaganza!!
Goatstravaganza!
Pass the goat cheese torta, please! Rabelais Books was packed as Portland foodies and goat lovers turned out in full force for the Goatstravaganza book release party of The Year of the Goat: 40,000 Miles and the Quest for the Perfect Cheese.

It was a Goatstravaganza of a book launch party last night at Rabelais Books in Portland. Over 100 people came out to celebrate the book, the photographs, and everything goat. Aurora Provisions put together an amazing selection of goat cheeses, some local, some from the book, not to mention some delicious goat meat hors d'oeurves. Of course, what Goatstravaganza would be complete without a real live goat....

Goatstravaganza!
Outside of Rabelais, Flyrod was a big hit.

and let's not forget, Margaret was there signing books...

Goatstravaganza!
Margaret signs a book for Wendy Pieh and Peter Goth of Springtide Farm in Bremen, Maine. You can read all about our visit to their farm in book!

some of the delicious food:

Goatstravaganza!
Aurora Provisions' goat cheese torta with edible flowers

Goatstravaganza!
There were cheeses from Appleton Creamery in Appleton Maine, Split Creek Farm in Anderson South Carolina, and Haystack Mountain Dairy in Boulder, Colorado - and boy did they go fast.

Goatstravaganza!
The wine? Goats du Roam, of course.

Goatstravaganza!
The American Goat photographs on display

Goatstravaganza!
At the end of the night, Charlotte decided to do some book signing of her own. Sorry Don and Sam - I guess we'll buy that one.
